We’re committed to creating a culture where every person feels a true sense of belonging.

RISE—Represent, Include, Share, Empower—is our strategic framework for fostering inclusion across Summit. Launched in January 2024, each letter represents action-oriented behaviors we can all take to help every Summit teammate feel seen, heard, and valued.

Through RISE, we offer every teammate the opportunity to share the diversity of their experiences and knowledge and play an active role in creating an environment where everyone feels like they belong here.

RISE Council

In August 2024, we introduced our inaugural RISE Council, a ten-member team chosen from over 100 nominees to champion belonging at Summit Materials. Serving as the voice of our people, the Council highlights blind spots, shares frontline insights, and propose solutions to enhance our culture. Members support initiatives that promote inclusivity and present at Summit Leadership Team meetings. Together, they create clarity, alignment, and a workplace where everyone is seen, heard, and valued.

Women on the RISE

In March 2024, we hosted our first annual Women on the RISE event. This one-day conference gathered a diverse group of women from across our company to come together for a day of sharing, networking, and learning at our headquarters in Denver, Colorado.

Leadership Expedition enhances experienced leaders’ abilities to foster high-performing teams, while Leadership Ascend prepares mid-level leaders to champion growth and development. Together, these programs empower leaders to navigate challenges and build a stronger future.

Preparing Our Leaders

Leadership Basecamp is designed to equip our teammates with the skills and confidence needed to lead effectively!

Through a mix of practical, online learning and guided support, they will learn to inspire their team, make strategic decisions, and navigate the challenges of time, people, and project management with ease.

BASECAMP serves as the foundational step in our Leadership Academy, catering to the unique needs of first time managers. Basecamp creates a framework for continued leadership growth and development.

ASCEND is highly customized to address the greatest priority topics for mid-level leaders. Ascend provides experience in using standard development tools and assessments to support a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
