Our employees are the heart of our business and the foundation of our success. We’re dedicated to building stronger communities wherever we operate, creating meaningful impact in the places we call home every day.
We have made conscious strides to address DE&I within our business, and our near-term strategy includes the following goals:
At Summit, diversity, equity, and inclusion are core to who we are, and we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment at every level. Respect is a fundamental value and a shared responsibility among all Summit employees.
We are advancing our DE&I strategy led by our RISE Initiative to identify and remove barriers to recruitment, training, development, and career growth. Our zero-tolerance policy toward intolerance reflects our dedication to creating a respectful and inclusive workplace—from our drivers and operations teams to management and our Board of Directors.
We prioritize leadership development as a core foundation for our 500 frontline leaders, equipping both current and emerging leaders with the skills and confidence to excel. This program builds strengths in organizational leadership, personal effectiveness, team engagement, and developing strong, capable teams.
We are expanding our learning and development programs to support employees in achieving their career and work-life goals, fostering constructive feedback, embracing innovation and best practices, and preparing for future career advancements.
We are launching an employee stock purchase program to build a culture of ownership, allowing employees to share in Summit’s success. Employee-investors are empowered to engage more deeply, make decisions that align with our stakeholders’ best interests, and gain a stronger understanding of Summit’s strategic goals and financial performance
We are standardizing our job architecture framework with best practices to strengthen the foundation for effective human capital management. This framework will support talent mobility, pay equity, career progression, workforce planning, and succession management, enhancing both lateral and upward growth opportunities for our team.
